La respuesta del registro. Register response.
A timbre & register test bench: explore how each register of the instrument responds across the keyboard, and design the presets the Keyboard and Console then use.
Run across the keyboard and hear how the instrument's character changes by zones: low, middle, high. A direct way to understand register before orchestrating.
Design and adjust each instrument's timbre. Each preset is a JSON you can copy, paste, apply to the simulator and download as a file.
Lista compartidaShared list
The active instrument list is shared with the Console and Keyboard: what you define here is available across the suite, with no manual export.
VOL y L·R son el nivel y el asiento del instrumento — se guardan en el preset.follow KB sounds the preset in unison with each Keyboard note; play KB forwards your typing to the Keyboard (mouse stays free); + / − move the whole suite's master volume; the suite indicator shows the synced master (click = detach). VOL and L·R are the instrument's level and seat — saved into the preset.
Enviar al ScoreSend to the Score
Send a preset to the Score on the spot over mm-sync — the Score owns the instrument list and broadcasts it to the whole suite. Volume, panning (with red L / green R light) and interface-light controls to fine-tune the test.
It is a synth, not a sampler — it loads no audio: each preset is a set of numbers the engine interprets.
Pick an instrument in the selector → it is applied to the engine right away. Hit note to hear it.
- Copy JSON → vuelca sus números a la caja de texto (modo edición).Copy JSON → dumps its numbers into the text box (edit mode).
Edit the numbers, or paste a JSON from outside.
- stop — que no quede ninguna nota sonando.stop — make sure no note is left sounding.
Apply from box → applies whatever is in the box to the engine.
Go back to step 2 as many times as you like.
- Download .txt → lo baja como <nombre>.txt (el nombre sale del campo name).Download .txt → saves it as <name>.txt (the name comes from the name field).
- ↺ preset / ↺ factory — el botón dice lo que hará: con un preset activo, el primer clic deshace tus ediciones (vuelve al preset); el segundo va a fábrica.↺ preset / ↺ factory — the button says what it will do: with an active preset, the first click undoes your edits (back to the preset); the second goes to factory.
You don't start from scratch: the bank ships 45 instruments (42 orchestral & folk + 3 synths). Pick one, sculpt it until it's yours, and save it — to your list, to your computer, or straight into your score.
Start from a default — pick an instrument in the selector: the curves, the knobs and the JSON box load by themselves. Hit note or sweep to hear it from low to high.
Sculpt — the Response sliders are how the instrument breathes across its register; the knobs are its character (below, what each one does, no jargon). VOL and L·R are its level and its seat in the orchestra: they are saved with the sound too.
Save it — Save preset to list: it joins your active list, that instrument only (a different name keeps the original — oboe_scuro doesn't overwrite oboe). Download .txt: a file on your computer with the complete sound. Export list…: your whole list as mm-presets-<name>.js, the format the entire suite understands.
¿A dónde va? — al ScoreWhere does it go? — to the Score
▶ Send to Score sends the preset live. The Score is the owner of the instrument list: it receives it and broadcasts it to the Console and the Keyboard. The consequence: every channel of your score using that instrument starts sounding with your version, instantly — nothing to reload. Save preset to list also broadcasts it on save.
And in the Score? Its channels (CHANNELS) choose a list: the default or a custom one — there you load the mm-presets-….js you exported, and the whole piece sounds with your timbres. Back to the factory bank: in the Register, List ▾ → Reset to default list.
Qué hace cada knob — sin tecnicismosWhat each knob does — no jargon
Response
The 7 rows (low·mid·high·top) are the instrument's signature across its register: body = how much body each zone has · air = how much breath you hear · brightness = how much it shines · response = how fast it speaks (low notes take longer) · vibrato ¢ and vib rate = how much and how fast it waves · odd/even = round and hollow like a clarinet (odd partials) ↔ full and even (all of them).
Output
Los dos viajan dentro del preset.VOL = how loud this instrument is relative to the others (its factory level). L·R = where it sits on stage: horns left, double basses right. Both travel inside the preset.
Base timbre
AM noise = that breath pulses along with the sound (grainier, more alive).
Source
mode = la materia prima: harmonic (notas afinadas — casi todo), inharmonic (campanas, marimbas), noise (percusión sin altura). source tilt = nace oscuro ↔ nace brillante. inharm. = cuánto se «acampana». band Hz / Q = dónde silba el ruido y qué tan angosto.mode = the raw material: harmonic (pitched notes — almost everything), inharmonic (bells, marimbas), noise (unpitched percussion). source tilt = born dark ↔ born bright. inharm. = how bell-like it gets. band Hz / Q = where the noise whistles and how narrow.
Filter
The brightness that gets through. cutoff ×f = how much brightness (it follows the note: rises with it). resonance = a nasal edge right at the rim. open oct = the mouth opens extra at the attack (that initial "wah") and time s = how long it takes to close.
Attack & Envelope
The consonant the note starts with: hit = the tongue or hammer strike · time ms = short (tic) or long (thu) · air = the strike is more breath than hit. And the life after: decay = how much it falls after the attack · sustain = the level it holds while you sustain (at 0 it dies away on its own, like a piano).
La paleta de instrumentos: todos a la vistaThe instrument palette: all of them at a glance
The native <select> cannot do columns —the OS draws that dropdown— so clicking the instrument field opens a column palette instead: every family visible at a glance, each in its own column, with a name filter on top. Instruments the bank has but the active map does not are shown dimmed rather than hidden: you can see they exist and that they are not loaded today. The pin keeps it open so you can try several in a row and compare by ear; unpinned, picking one closes it. The choice returns through the usual path, so nothing about the mix changes. It is the same palette in all four apps —Score, Keyboard, Console and Register— served by mm-presets.js.

Son lo que hace que un oboe diga «eh» y un corno diga «oh».The instrument's "throat": two zones that don't follow the note — they're fixed, like a violin's body or a mouth shaping a vowel. freq Hz = where each one sits · gain dB = how hard it pushes · Q = how narrow. They're what makes an oboe say "eh" and a horn say "oh".
